500 MJ
Just wondering... I found one in friends XJ that is in a field... his is bolted to an AW4. Can I take my 231 out and swap this in? I've got an AX-15 right now with the 231 that came with it from factory. This trans/t-case setup came in an '89 Wrangler that I'm running now in the MJ... MiNi Beast
I believe the output shaft has different count splines. but thinks it's possible to swap the shafts out. The ax 15 has a 23 count spline. so tcase has to able to accept that. Maybe understand?

TNT
If they are both the same spline count ont the input shaft it will bolt right in.
87manche
If they are both the same spline count ont the input shaft it will bolt right in. not exactly. The output shaft length changed as well. Easy fix is to go and grab that 242, split the cases and swap the input gears. They "should" be the same gear cut if they're anywhere near the same year. don't forget to grab the shift bezel and linkage.
