Hi. Maybe this is a big topic, but what I would like to do is convert a '92 2x 5-speed to the latest XJ mechanicals and interior/ exterior. I'm not a novice to mechanics and restoration as I have an auto repair/ recon business. I have converted WJ 2x to 4x, but I know this is not that simple. One main concern is the transfer case. If I found an Aisin 5-speed, could I swap the tailshaft housing like I did on the WJ? Another concern is the electronics/ engine management and fuel system. Any guidance here? Thanks as I start to research this.

Yeah you should read through as many 97+ swaps as possible and take notes.  Link in my signature is to my 97+ build thread.  I will be happy to answer any more specific questions you have after getting more familiar with what's involved.
