Pete M
this comes from a fundamental "truth" I've known for 20 years now (and my 88 follows the logic), but I've read about a few renix trucks here and there that don't seem to follow (aka: the resistor went bad and the truck no longer started at all). Can someone confirm it? like with a wire diagram or something? If the computer does indeed open up a bypass wire to give the pump a full 12 volts, maybe there is an inherent corrosion weakness that makes some trucks no longer "have it"? or it reduces the voltage to the point of being worthless? Ωhm
Pete, two conditions will bypass the fuel pump ballast resistor. 1) Starter relay when engaged. 2) O2S relay will engage (ECU controlled) when under a WOT condition (not much need for O2S during WOT). Check out page 17 in the 88 Elect Manual. 88 Elect Manual
