Np242 shift fork removal

Recommended Posts

So I'm currently trying to swap in a 23 spline input in my t-case. From what I've seen on line there is a roll pin of some kind that must be removed, but ive also read that it's possible to pry over the gate enough to remove the fork assembly. I can't really see anything that looks like a pin. And i spent a few hours trying to pry on it but i don't want to break anything.

Any tips on how to get this out.

Thanks.

There’s a rubber plug on the side of the housing. Remove that and you will see the roll pin.

I used #1 extractor to pull it out.

I have found the pin, and now after failing to remove I'm dropping it off at the shop across the street from my office.

About 1:40 you can see the sweet spot for prying it out.. that's how I did my dad's ZJ 242 swap/rebuild a few weeks ago.. i used a few of these guys videos and then this write up - https://kevinsoffroad.com/blogs/kevinsoffroad-com-death-wobble-experts-upgraded-factory-parts-20-years-of-experience-info-and-knowledge/249-to-242-swap-by-wes-solitude and it got me through just fine.
