Cmorris24
Ok not completely. Has a delay in going back to idle almost like the pedal sticks and sometimes will idle high but if I pull up on the pedal it idles down. Doesn't do this if I'm straight of the throttle body. Could this be the tps? Or maybe map sensor etc? Searched didn't find a solid answer looking for a direction to head. thanks for helping my incompetence! gogmorgo
Sounds like a sticky throttle cable or linkage to me. Try working some penetrating oil into the pivot points in the pedal and the throttle linkage. Failing that get some lube into the throttle cable; the stuff for bicycle brake or shifter cables works great.
Marine1Texas
yes sounds like a sticky cable. I agree with Gogmorgo needs cleaned. Use some brake cleaner to spray the cable down and get any hard great off or heavy dirt. Then get some good Penetrating Oil and soak it good. It is not a normal area that gets maintenance often. make sure the spray from in side down. push the thing to the floor and spray it good. Do inspect it, to see if your getting any frayed wire coming out. While your at it spray the whole throttle body link are too connected to the cable. HOrnbrod
I don't use oil on any of the cables (throttle, hood release, kick-down, shifter, etc.), it'll gum them up eventually. Use a dry lube with an injector needle so you can squirt lube under the cable sheath and let it run down the wire. This is a good example:
