Long Island MJ

Recommended Posts

Just wanted to start a thread for my build.  It’s not going as fast as I want but I’m still making progress.  I picked up my comanche off of the local Facebook for sale groups. It came online and within an hour of being posted I was at the guys house with cash.  We struck a deal and it was mine and I was excited to start collecting parts.   It already came with brand new rims.  A lift and some 35’s.  But the motor was shot and had no transfer case/trans. I was also in need of a short bed because this was rotted out but I was able to have a rust free one shipped up from Florida so I’m squared away with that.

The more and more I looked into what I wanted to do it was Paramount that I stay away from renix motors and obd1.  So I wanted something with a 5 speed and  Obd2.  After almost 2 months of looking everyday for a 5 speed xj I found this 96 xj sport with a lift.  Brand new rims.  35” tires a 5 speed with a ford 8.8 with 4.10’s and Dana 30 to match.  I believe I should be able to swap everything over and have a pretty badass and reliable MJ.  Any help or tips along the way would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully these upload pics work too.27DE8065-B740-416D-BAA9-21681D61562F_zps901AAC0D-F638-4313-AD40-DEF8976CB046_zps302B63BD-4203-49F8-94A9-A8F4A661034F_zps8D0F9254-9D2C-4AA9-93CF-FFECF6094C2D_zpsD0284C35-0A9B-4898-8639-D8A505497549_zps74F66E0F-3433-4103-A2A4-FDFF0F8E1225_zps

What did that two door do to become a donor?

  • 9 months later...

I actually ended up keeping this cherokee together and fixed it up a bit.  I sold my short bed Comanche to my brother and picked up this long bed up locally.   It’s already obd2 swapped.  Just need to button up a few things on it.   I just haven’t had the time.
