90 Comanche Eliminator

Recommended Posts

Here is my 1990 Jeep Comanche Eliminator project.

Truck was sitting for 5 years at PO. He said he used to use it to run down to the river for fishing. Truck is pretty rough, but it was all there which was a requirement for me.

Truck fired right up and drove it onto the trailer.

When I got home the first thing I did was a lot of power washing. A lot of years of grease and grime on this thing. After that went through all the wiring and performed all of cruisers tips.

Also replaced the following;

-96 Valve cover and gasket

-intake and exhaust manifold gasket

-oil pan gasket

-entire cooling system (swapped to open, all new components)

-engine mounts, trans mount

-new exhaust system from manifold back

-4 hole injectors

-new fuel tank, filter, and pump (blew out all fuel lines)

This is the day I went and picked it up, drove 8 hours round trip to Danville IL

So after a 3 month break (I get busy in the summer months, I do HVAC) I'm back on it.

Here is progress as ofyesterday. Got the floor all stripped out. A lot of spot weld drilling. It was the most tiedious thing ever. Lots of patients and a good cutter kit.

Seems pics got a little blurry from resizing. Hmm. Anyway, that's where I'm at. I did a lot of pondering back and forth about the floors. And I'm happy I went this direction. It's gonna be the best possible restoration I can do.

Horrible lol. I'm making progress with it though. I can see the light at the end of the tunnel.

That's a lot of work.  I'm not looking forward to doing almost the same thing to my other jeep once my truck is driving around.

Yep, drilling spot welds are the worst. The factory just puts them in random spots, and if the panel is real rusty they are hard to find.

Well no update for my 90, but I picked up a 92 base. 4.0, auto, 4x4. I'm so excited that I found an h.o truck. I will start a thread for it. I have a few things that need done. This is the good side. In search of a new bed, keep your eyes peeled!
