bruceb
Just purchased a 1989 2.5L 2wd and sorting out wiring issues. Under the hood, it appears a coolant sensor has no connector and an electrical wire taped off. Can anyone share a pic of their '89 2.5l engine or identify this wire for me and what plugs in the coolant sensor? thank you - Bruce
Jeep Driver
The thermo housing is for a late model, you have no sensor there, your temp sensor is in the intake manifold, disregard. The wire is likely the power steering idle-up, you can disregard that too.
carnuck
Coolant sensor is in the head. Someone may have planned to add an electric fan from a TJ or something or just old broke the thermostat housing so they stuck a later model one there. The power steering low speed idle up wire comes in useful for other things. I used mine when I ran my power inverter to operate power tools and use the AC compressor to air up tires.
