Wood90 Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 So I'm swapping in a 4.0 from a 2wd 1996 cherokee as well as the wiring from the cab forward with a gauge cluster from a 92. My comanche is a 4wd 1990. Both are aw4's, but which transmission should I keep?
omega_rugal Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 you are swapping only the engine? if the current AW4+TC works, leave that, not sure if the 4WD tranny (renix) will work with the 2WD one (HO) tcu

MeanLemons Posted June 30, 2017 Posted June 30, 2017 Why do u need to swap the wiring out? You can swap in the engine and still use the renix system.

ParadiseMJ Posted July 4, 2017 Posted July 4, 2017 A 2wd transmission will not work with a 4wd transfer case. The tranny and the engine MIGHT bolt up, but you won't be able to put a transfer case on the end of a 2wd tranny. You need a 4wd tranny. End of story.
