I know all the forums say you cannot put a wj motor in an mj because the motor mounts are in different spots. WJ motors do fit in mjs with hardly any modification. The bosses are there for the xj motor mounts. I had to put a spacer in for one of the bolts on one side and shave about 1/4 inch from one of the bosses on the other side. I used the factory 88 intake, dizzy, and sensors. still working on the accessory drive. But the wj motor does infact fit and you don't have to spend $400 on brown dog adapters. will try and get pictures posted for you guys soon.

Yep, that's one of the no-no's that's posted on several forums, including the strokers forum. I just heard today in fact that it's quite easy to mod these engines to drop in our MJs.    This is good to know info for those looking for yet another source for low mileage 4.0 engine donors. Looking forward to your mod pics.

Please post the block casting number we are talking about on this WJ engine.

I actually have one of the "supposed" blocks that are not supposed to fit the MJ in my garage - along with a later XJ block.

Don, Mr Hurley at HESCO is actually the one that told me about it. You saw first hand when you went to get the tailgate from my dad. MJ junkie. I'll get the casting number from my dad and some pictures soon. I am out of the country at the moment and all my mjs are at my dads place.

my boss has been telling me that for years but we never confirmed it. cool find..personally id rather swap in a 150,000+ 91-95 block with a 7120 head rather than a 40,000 mile wj block. i work at a jeeps only junk yard and the amount of bad wj 4.0s we get in is insane. If we have good ones we can't keep them on the shelf they fly out the door to replace bad ones
