T.raymo
I have a 88' MJ 4.0 renix ba10/5 np231. Just picked up a AX15 on the cheap I believe it came out of a 91' MJ. What all will I need to complete the swap? I've heard the input shaft in the TC is different but if I do a SYE will that get me the right spline count? Are the clutches the same? 87MJTIM
The tcase input shaft is different. The output on a BA10 has 21 splines, the AX15 has 23. You will need to get a matching tcase or rebuild the old. The SYE is the tcase output. Nothing to do with the transmission There are other changes you will need: the cross member, will you switch to external slave?
T.raymo
So I can get a 23 split input shaft for my existing t-case? I believe this AX15 has an internal slave? And I plan to do a long arm kit so I would need to buy a x-member for an AX15? Just tryin to get an idea of everything I'll need before I start. Also what's it take to rebuild an AX? I picked this one up $
fiatslug87
The t-case linkage is also different, you can use this http://www.boostwerksengineering.com/231-HD-Shift-Linkage-Manual-Trans-_p_29.html I the backup light switch and harness plug are also different.
