mik666 Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Hey all so my Comanche had/has a non-start issue (87 4.0 2w dr auto) - i'll jump in it tun the key, get power etc etc, but no start - no clicking of the starter etc. I'll turn it back off and after afew tries it fires right up. I first thought starter switch, so changed it out, and for a week it was fine so thought i'd fixed it - but did it again this morning. I'm planing to recheck all the grounds, but i did redo all of them recently, including refreshing all the cables from battery to their spots. Any thoughts what to look at? maybe neutral switch is dirty ? thanks as always Mike
gogmorgo Posted October 15, 2016 Posted October 15, 2016 Does it start if you shift into neutral, or back and forth from park to neutral a bunch? Check your battery cables and then do this before you replace anything else: http://bc4x4.com/tech/2010/jeep-neutral-safety-switch-nss/ I ran a bead of silicon around the edge before I screwed it back together, just to keep it cleaner inside.
mik666 Posted October 16, 2016 Author Posted October 16, 2016 great thx gogmorgo - cleaned all terminals and hasn't done it again, but think i'll pull the switch and clean that too thx! m
