moonshiner Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 hello all , i have a 86 comanche with a 2.5 amc 4 banger , TBI and a 4 speed manual , it has a few issues , the worst one , is that most of the it runs fine , then it will start cutting out like the fire or fuel is being cut right off , and it will also take surging spells at times as well while driving , this is my wood truck and its been a darn good one for the past 4 years , this all started this spring , i have already attended to fuse block and wiring harness figuring that was the problem and it fixed a lot of it but it still has a rough idle and a surging problem at times . thanks keith
cruiser54 Posted October 5, 2016 Posted October 5, 2016 check the vacuum hoses below the throttle body.
dasbulliwagen Posted October 9, 2016 Posted October 9, 2016 A new oxygen sensor fixed mine when it was doing that.
moonshiner Posted October 11, 2016 Author Posted October 11, 2016 A new oxygen sensor fixed mine when it was doing that. check the vacuum hoses below the throttle body. i just found the oxygen sensor plug the other day and plugged it back up , i cleaned the plug , it was pretty dirty it had been unplugged for a long time , i also did most of cruiser 54s tips, checked for vacuum leaks , i added ground cables , cleaned all the connectors with contact cleaned and used dielectric grease , its running better than it ever has , it will still ever once in a while act like it just shuts off or loses fire while climbing a hill ? i guess i will check the CPS , fuel filter and pump next .
