Minuit Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Someone I know who knows someone I know who works on Jeeps told me that a heat gun makes the above much easier. In TN it's legal to swap VINs for restoration purposes so long as the correct VIN tag stays with the vehicle, but pop-riveting the (correct) tag on the dash is a terrible idea. The rivets used on VIN tags are very different.
64 Cheyenne Posted July 13, 2016 Posted July 13, 2016 Friend of a friend, of a friend, many years ago, 3 states away, and who is now deceased, did this...on the "good" Vin (bad dash), he took a phillips screw driver ... I posted and decided to edit because what I posted was probably too graphic and some could have construed what I posted in bad way ie shady uses of the method, so I edited the post. Sorry.
