Rusty's 4.5 Lift Kit Questions

Recommended Posts

So one of the only places around I've found with a full leaf pack. Was hoping someone has had a recent product from them? Most of bad reviews are from years ago and just from looking at their kit they've tried to remedy some of the complaints. Thanks in advance

No recent experience with Rusty's junk. "Once bitten, twice shy."

My primary question is, how can you tell from looking at their kit (on their web site?) that they've tried to remedy "some" of the complaints. The complaints that I had and that everyone else I knew who tried Rusty's crap was that the quality wasn't there. At least one of the failures could have been fatal. I had one of his adjustable track bars on which the upper TRE wore out in a lot less than 10,000 miles. One of my friends in NAXJA/NAC didn't do quite that well -- on his, the threaded bung in the upper end broke the welds and pulled right out of the tube, leaving him with NO steering. It happened at low speed on a trail, so no injuries. What might have happened if it had decided to pull out on the highway at 65 MPH?

I have their 4.5 kit. I like it.

Only complaint is tell them to not even throw in a steering stabilizer. JUNK! went through 2 of their regular grade ones and one of their high grade ones. They finally just gave me store credit for like $45 that I never used. I bought a stabilizer from somewhere else, can't even remember where, and I have had no problems.

My problem was the ball kept popping out of the socket on. That end. The brand new 2nd one popped out after rolling my truck around less than 20 feet!

Other than that, you're good in my opinion.

It looked like they swapped back to stock type rubber joints and added adjustable options on the control arms. Thought I read somewhere they used to only come with the front two shocks. Might be wrong but either way I'm not going to risk it. Looks like I'm saving up for TnT or RC front end
