Knucklehead97
So I realized today when my new cars check engine light came on that I really need a scan tool for OBD systems. Especially considering out if the 6 cars my family owns, my Jeep is the only one that doesn't take an OBD scan tool. I'm fixing to be buying a laptop. Is there any chance I can buy a scan tool adapter and program so I can just use my laptop as a scan tool? That would be awesome haha.
MJam86
You can buy a phone app and a scanner off amazon. I used the torque app and a cheap scanner. In total i spent about $
gogmorgo
Cords definitely exist. Check eBay for a USB to obd2 cable. Software also exists, from cheap (possibly free) programs that are just your basic scan tool, right up to thousand-dollar professional tuning software. Some of the cords on eBay include basic software.
Knucklehead97
Great! Might buy a fancy program for it eventually after I searched and saw what some of them offered.
