Roof line is from a Cherokee, not a Comanche.  The micro bed tells me the starting point was a Cherokee and the micro bed was grafted on to the Cherokee.  So no cuts in the floor pan that Doc would be interested in for his project.  But what do I know.

Its cherokee up to about 2-2 1/2 inches back from the back door. Then its comanche grafted on from there back. He said he shortened the bed up 12 inches because he didnt like how long it was. The frame is sleeved with 1/4 inch plate steel where the graft was. Not to happy with the rear doors either doc but they don't leak and just need to be shaped better which won't take much. I was mainly looking at the fact that the hard part was already done and now its more or less just a few cosmetic things to smooth out. It tracks straight as arrow and cruises at 75 very comfortably which is also a plus in my book.

I wasn't curious about the floor, I know what ever he did would not relate to what I am thinking about building anyway. I was just wondering how he redid back doors and back of cab cause in the photos it looks funky. If it looks "bad" in a photo I'd have concern how it looked up close. If the end result doesn't look good, what's the quality of the job under what you do see? How was that back door spliced together, and how was it prepped prior to filler and primer?

The pics of the build looked really clean. The guy had hundreds of them than he let me go though. The only part that is "bad" is where he had to "ad" door to fill in where the fender would be on a Cherokee which he just cut that out of the Comanche doors and that lower part of the door on the cab part is Comanche as well. But where the shaping issues cam in was that the Comanche is actually a tad wider than the Cherokee. I do see where you are coming from though doc in the sense of what other corners were cut but as far as I can tell that's the only real flaw which is an easy fix. I even had it "flexed out" today and went all around it where the two came together to see if I could spot any cracks or twisting and it all looked good. So are you planning on building one doc or what build are you talking about?

I've been thinking about doing an extended cab. Pondering between 2 door XJ doors or making the back of the cab longer. I started a post wondering if anyone had photos of either so I could see how each way looked. It kind of went off topic with people posting and discussing 4 door trucks instead. Hard to think someone hasn't done what I'm thinking about, but I don't find relevant photos when I Google.

Ive seen a few when i first looked into making a 4 door but they just cut a cherokee right fon the middle of the rear door filled in the seem and somehow got a piece of glass in the half window

That's Johnathons truck,it's been for sale forever,he started around $8000 and has been working his way down.

I have not seen it in person but others who have didn't seem too impressed with the build quality.

I'm only selling it to put the money into my other truck plus hospital bills from a new baby are starting to roll in. I love the truck and it's a blast to drive just not practical to have two trucks

So you did buy it. I had been wondering if you did the deal. If it sells, tell the next owner to post up so we can find out what becomes of it.
