valve cover grommet question, '98 HO

Recommended Posts

I'm loosing some coolant from the big thermostat hose and I believe it's due a lack of clearance for the hose due to my using the renix aluminum valve cover on my '98 swapped engine. I was going to put the 98 cover (smooth steel) on to see if it would give me any more room to get the hose clamp in there but I see that I am missing 3 grommets for the cover. My searches tell me that I need pn# 2946079, http://www.quadratec.com/products/51309_0101.htm  but the image is just of a rubber grommet and what is on my cover has a metal backing around it. Is it ok to just order these grommets or is there something else I need? I have the year appropriate felpro gasket, I just need the appropriate grommets.

Thank you

There should be a metal insert that goes in the grommets. The gasket is different as are the bolts.

A new Felpro gasket will come with the rubber grommets.

Mopar gaskets do NOT come with grommets. Ask me how I know.

Felpro it is for all gaskets in the future!

ok; so I have a felpro blue gasket and the valve cover from the '98 but am missing a couple of grommets. I would like to avoid buying a whole new felpro gasket (which, if I'm understanding the comments, includes the grommets) since I only need 3 grommets. Is that possible?
