Knucklehead97
Is there a such thing for a reasonable price? I'm building a parts list up for next Summer when I hopefully start working on the MJ again. The steering/front suspension is one thing which will be getting an overhaul. I have a bunch of play in the steering with some wheel shimmy. All of my bushings are shot from where I drove with DW before I changed the ball joints. I would prefer to eliminate the TRE on the trac bar, but I don't want to lift over 2" and want to stay at stock height until my new 235's wear out. Does anyone make a stock height double shear trac-bar?
Crash
Why not just lift the front 2" and be done. I used an RE1600 TB with a modified stock frame-side TB mount to run the heim in double shear. Had some sagged "3 inch" springs so I think I was barely over 2 inches. And had some thread left. I was running 235s. The extra flex was nice and rode better. In theory, if you found/built an aftermarket frame-side mount that had a mount hole slightly outward, it should work with stock height. Also, when I initially installed my lift springs I ran the factory TB, and the axle was not shifted that much. I never noticed any issues.
Knucklehead97
I just like the idea of a double shear more than the TRE end trac bar, is why I don't just run a Moog and be done. And i honestly am considering going ahead and lifting... got any pictures of yours on 2" and 235's?
PIKE
Here is one that's rated for 1" to 8" of lift. http://www.kevinsoffroad.com/cart/hardkor-track-bar-conversion-cures-death-wobble-p-1017/
Crash
Not great pics, but here's some from when I had the small lift. I'll try and find more. http://www.naxja.org/forum/showpost.php?p=245139551&postcount=143 Keep in mind that I never had flares on the newer fenders. 235/75 , rear was a bastard pack so not sure exactly how hight the rear was https://www.dropbox.com/s/semzr8vbznkl42u/2011-01-24%2012.49.28.jpg?dl=0 31x10.5 https://www.dropbox.com/s/7olvipb61xknx74/2011-05-09%2017.52.49.jpg?dl=
Knucklehead97
I definitely like 31's more. That's what I'll be running eventually probably. And great! A double shear that will work with a close enough height. I'll just lift 1" if I have to and run that trac bar for a bit when I get everything back running right. Thanks guys!. xjrev10
I contemplated going 2"....... But I'm glad I went 3.5. Truck is a lot more capable and I wanted new leafs anyway. I run 32s as of now, with a Iron Rock Off-road double shear. Best in the business for track bars. First thing any of my lifted jeeps get! Good luck! Crash
If you want to see pics of my MJ with the 265/70R17 on JK wheels at stock height, go to my build thread if you have not already. Mind you, my front fenders are trimmed. But the rear tucks nicely. My adj UCA's will be here sometime this week, so hopefully this weekend I can toss a lift on the front. I have a few different sets of coils to choose from. But since I might get a set of JKS ACOS, I think I will just put my V8 ZJ Upcountry coils in for meow. Knucklehead97
Since I'm wanting to change trac bar's anyways I have considered going 3". I guess it will all depend on how I'm feeling when I get around to doing it! Of course the end decision might be just getting a Moog and staying stock if I continue to like how my 235's look on the truck. Not a wheeler at all so flex isn't a worry. But I would like MT springs and I hear they offer 3" of lift.
