How hard are the outer bearings to replace on an D35?

 

Are they pressed in/on?

Any special tools required?

If you have non-c clip housing, bearings are pressed on the axle shafts.

And if it is a c clip? What about on an 8.25?

I beat a d35 axle bearing off and new one on with a cold chisel and a 4lb hammer and a good set of ear plugs. Be careful not to hit the shaft with the chisel. I tackled it over 2 nights.

My non-clip was $35 (per axle shaft ) at most machine shops to remove to old and press on the new. 

 

The inner seal can be tricky. Nothing special other than a good seal puller. 

 

C-Clip and 8.25 is slide hammer to pop out the outer bearing and the outer seal out.
