crs88
I'm in Powder Springs, GA, and I need some help bleeding my new clutch slave. I'm by myself and my wife pretty much does not want to help with this because of her complete lack of mechanical skills. If you are available (pretty much anytime, you make the call) I could really use your expertise/help. I'll be happy to compensate you (gas money, beer, lunch money, etc.) and you can know that you helped out a fellow MJer. Thanks, Chuck
64 Cheyenne
"push the clutch in (pump it up)....HOLD.....release bleeder....floor....hold....close bleeder.... repeat." Not saying anything about your companion, but if she can drive and push the pedal in, she can help with what you need. I usually grab one of the little kids to push the pedal for me seems they love being asked to do something useful. BTW, I'm assuming your internal, because if it's new and internal, you shouldn't be askin for help. That is unless you took the plastic retainer off.... Whiz
Chuck, I would be willing to help you out, but I have minimal mech skills myself, and have never completed that task. I also live South of ATL, not free for 2 weekends, willing to help a weekday after work. I am not the closest, and you might have better options. 1989 comanche mj
My wife hates helping me too, you can cut a section of 2x4 brace between the pedal and steering wheel so it holds the clutch pedal down, then creep under and crack the bleeder, pump it some more and repeat. ScottJeep
Well...I'm on the other side of town... but it's 3 jobs until mid-July for me so sorry but it's tough ( 10 years since the last summer vacation...my family barely knows my name ). Have always been in the same situation wife + 3 and NONE ever really wanted to help. Ended up buying myself the Motive Bleeder unit: http://www.summitracing.com/parts/mvp-0252?seid=srese1&gclid=CPfp2dW52MwCFdcagQodgYMPHg and do it all myself. There are also several other products out there: http://www.toolplanet.com/product/Brake-Bleeding-Vacuum-PumpKit-40519?vfsku=RR40519&gpla=pla&gclid=CK3Swq652MwCFdgHgQodh1kBVA http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/77A5485A3714372.aspx?kc=ffproduct&k_clickid=14a28950-c116-4a3b-bc71-08b32e09a1ce&adgroupid=5399&k_trackingid=274x72466073888&kpid=5485-3714372&productid=72466073888&gclid=COq8zr252MwCFYY2gQodoWsMFg Sometimes the investment in the tool pays off repeatedly. crs88
I did, in fact, get a local guy to bleed the clutch and reinstall the driveshaft with new U-joint for only $75.
