What's up fellas

I finally got my driveshaft and installed and noticed a stubborn bolt that doesn't fully seat...

Before I break the bolt in the yoke I was thinking about doing the u-joint straps upgrade and get rid of the headache now....

Has anyone done this to their amc 20?

I think the stock bolts are probably 1/4 in? If so, drill out the yoke for 5/16 in and go to your local parts store and pick up some ubolt straps.

That's doable on the D44 as there's barely enough metal to support the larger hole required for the u-bolts, but don't know about the AMC-20 pinion yoke. I did the drill out for the u-bolt mod on my D44, but wasn't comfortable with the amount of metal left surrounding the 5/16" hole on the outer ears. Later on I replaced the the pinion yoke with the beefier Dana u-bolt pinion yoke; it was less than $40. I don't know if a u-bolt pinion yoke is even available for the AMC-20 axle though.  :dunno:

I may have to do my research again....

I read a while back that the yoke for the Dana 35, 44 and amc 20 are all the same....

I even have a spare 8.25 yoke sitting in the tool box....
