CJ's 89 MJ
Hi guys. I am needing to replace my bucket seats but can't locate any here on island. Our only junk yard here claims they have no jeep parts at all. So I am looking for an alternative seat I might be able to find easier. I have thought about buying them back there but the shipping is to costly. They are to big for usps and fed ex and the other shipping companies charge outrageous on prices. A while back I was looking at a lift kit and ended up having a member help me out with that. Fed ex quoted me 1400 to ship the lift. Thanks to Kody I only ended up paying about 250 in shipping. So if anyone had recommendations on bucket seats to try please let me know. Thanks. CJ
relyt120
Where are you? You should fill in your location info on your profile. What is wrong with your seats? Are the covers just stained or ripped? If so it would be much easier/cheaper to have someone sell you a nice set of covers for your style seat that you can just replace. The covers would be much cheaper and easier to ship than any seats would be. If you can post up some pics of your seats, it may be easier for us to suggest fixes than u having to find new or used ones on your island. CJ's 89 MJ
I'm located on the island of guam. I use the mobile site because I use my phone for Internet access. The profile option isn't available. The seats were put in by a previous owner and they do not function at all. They don't adjust and they have plenty rips and stains. That's why I am looking for alternative seats. If seat covers were an option I would have taken that route.
Egm89
I've seen some dakotas and rangers seats swap, I think it depends on ur ability to fabricate the brackes. The ranger ones look good, it was the 60/40 bench type.

johnj92131
Have you looked on the island for Cherokee seats? If you can find some Cherokee seats on the island, you can mix and match the seat frames and brackets from the MJ to make a decent functional set of seats. Then if the color is a problem, just the seat covers could be mailed to Guam at a reasonable price. Cherokee seats use the same foam as the MJ bucket seats. Also Cherokee seats up to and including 1994 will bolt to the Comanche MJ bucket seat brackets. I did the above mix and match to build my near new looking MJ Laredo buckets. Yes it took time and yes there a whole lot more Cherokees in Southern California than in Guam. But if you can find the Cherokee seats you will have a good start without the big freight bill. relyt120
Also if the issue is they won't fold forward there is a guide in the diy section about replacing the zip tie that holds the cable inside the seat. Helped me with that issue.
HOrnbrod
Also check the base classified ads in the weekly news rags from Andersen AFB and the Naval Base. Base personnel part out Jeeps frequently. Also Craigslist Micronesia has Jeeps for parts occasionally.
CJ's 89 MJ
I frequently check craigslist almost daily. I have found stuff there I have bought even though I wasn't really looking. Occasionally stumble across something that's to good to pass up. When it comes to part outs I haven't seen much I could use. Normally I see Toyota and Nissan as parts. I actually ran across a couple of seats as well. They ended up being about same condition as mine. I check out the paper from Andersen base. I work there and have easy access. Very excellent suggestions thank you.
HOrnbrod
There's a 96 ZJ in Agat HERE that may be worth looking into. Starts with fluid but dies - probably needs only a fuel pump. 4.0, auto, interior might be good. $350 as is. Most of the steering and suspension parts are direct bolt-ins and an upgrade. CJ's 89 MJ
I have checked that one out, originally it was posted for 400. The wife and I went down and looked at it. I was thinking about buying it to have a back up motor for mine. After looking at it that's about the only thing that is usable. I already have most of the parts I need for the upgrades you mentioned. The interior isn't in very good condition. I may contact him again since the price has dropped some. See if he is willing to deliver.
ParadiseMJ
If you take the seat floor brackets (yes, even a bench seat works for buckets) off the existing seats you can swap just about any seat from a small truck, van or car into the MJ, as long as it physically fits the space. The key part is the floor bracket. Then it's fairly easy to use some flat stock or angle steel to modify the floor bracket to seat connection. If you ditch the whole existing seat and no longer have the floor bracket it'll be harder to mount.
