Jnick
I have a 1988 Jeep Comanche, Pioneer, 4.0, 4x4, 93,000 miles with a snow plow. Last weekend I noticed both seat belts do not lock when I jerk them forward. Does this mean the pretensioner is shot and will not function correctly in an accident? Do your Comanches seat belts lock when given a quick jerk forward? Thanks very much! Jimbo
Fernando87mj
On mines it doesn't but on a panic stop or when I brake hard they do
Megadan
On mines it doesn't but on a panic stop or when I brake hard they do Same as mine. If I try to yank on the belt really hard, I just get a lot of belt very quickly, but during a hard stop they do engage.

outlaw star
25 year old technology.^^this^^ They're about as simple as "tech" gets. There's a slide inside the belts spool housing with a weight on it. When you hit the brakes, the momentum causes that weight to slide forward and "lock" the spool.
