Vacuum Harness Woes/ Vacuum Fitting
Jnick replied to Jnick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Hello again!! So, now I do not have 4x4.... I do not have the part-time light (which was working before I played around with the above vacuum harness project) and I do not seem to have 4x4 High. I can tell that I do have 4x4 Low. Does anyone know if the above vacuum harness have anything to do with the 4x4 vacuums? I believe they are separate right? Any thoughts on what it could be? Thanks for your help AGAIN! Jimbo 1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer 4X4 4.0 93,000 miles of awesome. -
Vacuum Harness Woes/ Vacuum Fitting
Jnick replied to Jnick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Thanks very much cruiser54 and everyone else. It was helpful. Happy New Year! Jimbo -
Hello. Can you please help me? I have stared at this issue for a while now. I also have searched CC as well as online videos. Due to a squeal, I replaced the fan belt and the idler pulley and the ac delete pulley. To do so, I pulled out the air filter box and unconnected all the vacuum lines. I did not label them and am having trouble figuring out which lines go together. I have looked at that one diagram that keeps on showing up but get confused because it does not show the paths in detail. Rather that one diagram only shows one line that comes out of the 'vacuum fitting' on the drivers side when in reality there three or four lines that are coming out of the 'vacuum fitting'. I am not certain where any of them fit into. It is a mess right now. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks, Jimbo

Both seat belts do not lock when I jerk them forward?
Jnick replied to Jnick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Great- thanks very much for everyone's responses. I feel much better now. Jimbo -
I have a 1988 Jeep Comanche, Pioneer, 4.0, 4x4, 93,000 miles with a snow plow. Last weekend I noticed both seat belts do not lock when I jerk them forward. Does this mean the pretensioner is shot and will not function correctly in an accident? Do your Comanches seat belts lock when given a quick jerk forward? Thanks very much! Jimbo

Which rear tire drives the Comanche?
Jnick replied to Jnick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
Is it posi traction or does the rear driver side or rear passenger side? Thanks very much! Jimbo. -
Hello. I have a quick question. I have an awesome 1988 Jeep Comanche Pioneer, 4.0 4x4. I recently 4 purchased used tires with Jeep rims. The four tires vary with usable rubber remaining. I am thinking the 2 best rubbers will go on the back and the 2 less rubbers will go on the front. The question is do you know which rear tire I should put the best rubber on rear driver or passenger? Would you recommend any method of putting them given the rubber remaining? Thanks very much. I am always a fan of your forums.

Towing, Interior Lights And Blown Fuse Woes
Jnick replied to Jnick's topic in MJ Tech: Modification and Repairs
It is an automatic. I can not help but to think it has something to do with my wiring harness. I am a weekend mechanic, not really a know-it-all mechanic. I could have done something wrong. But all the lights did work on the truck and the trailer. Most recent symptoms... The gauges and the dimmer and the radio and the lights all work fine. The truck will not start. It does not even click. No noise at all. Then the truck went dark. Then when I tried to start it again, the lights and radio came back, but the clock was reset at 1:00. It previously (1 minute before) held the correct time. I have a picture of my fuse box, but I can not seem to paste it. What do I need to do? Thanks, Jim- 3 replies

Hello. I have a question on this topic... what driver's side rear ground? I own a 1988 Comanche Pioneer and I towed for the first time recently. I went to Advanced Auto and cut the old wire harness and soldiered/ taped the new wire harness together. I helped a buddy move his lawn mower in the rain and I noticed my dashboard lights were not working. Today, in the daylight I pulled the fuse and it was burnt to a point of a serious concern. The dimmer and door chime10-amp fuse had a burnt hole through it. It is funny as my gauges worked but when I put a new fuse to replace the burnt fuse, my gauges no longer worked, I merely put back the same 7.5 fuse (because I did not have another one) and my gauges illuminated again. But when I drove the truck up my driveway and turned on the radio, the truck almost stalled. When I went to go start it again it only clicked, but when I turned on the radio and tried to start it again- it started right up. I seem to have some sort of electrical issues now, when before I never had ANY issue with this truck since I bought it- it always worked perfectly. Was I supposed to ground something? I just figured the ground wire was already set when I soldiered them. In studying the manual it mentions a 30 amp-towing fuse, which I do not have in place. Should that 30-amp fuse be in there? Any ideas on what is going on? Did I just mess up my truck? I am a bit confused and a bit worried now. Thanks very much, your website has a ton of knowledge. Jim
