steering damper

Recommended Posts

You can start by swapping in Jeep ZJ V8 front end parts. Tie rod, drag link, sway bar, and track bar are all beefier and bolt right in with no modifications. The 93-98 ZJ steering gear boxes are a quicker ratio and are also bolt-in.

Any particular years I'm looking for tie rod, drag link, sway bar, and track bar?

Just measured the top of axle to frame approximately 12.5" on front. So using the diagram and subtracting the standard height should have 4.5" lift. Back is a spring over axle. Not sure how to take that measurement. Would it be better to get the adjustable track bar?

Given that the steering damper is mounted through the passenger side sway bar mount ... If those bushings are worn, it will make a pop when you turn. They probably don't fit properly either, mount stud for the sway bar had 1/2" ish hole, damper studs are about 3/8" with around a 3/4-7/8" bushing hole.

I am replacing the damper to the correct one. I already have it ordered just waiting on it to arrive. Sure wish I would have found you guys before I replaced it. Hate throwing money away, but I would much rather have it fixed the right way. Thanks for all the advice and help.
