SJBrooks
Hi all, I'm planning to replace my original fuel pump, and would like to get recommendations on which brand/part # to buy. Truck is an '88 5-speed, and original pump has 180,000+ on it. I took a look on rockauto and found these: https://www.rockauto.com/catalog/raframecatalog.php?ck[iD]=0&ck[idlist]=0&ck[viewcurrency]=USD&ck[php_SESSION_ID]=fsrhc73kacnta5p5fk6erecch4 Have any particular ones of these proven reliable? What others does anybody recommend? Thanks, Steve
HOrnbrod
Your link doesn't point to anything. Most everyone agrees that the Bosch pumps are the best for our trucks. They were used originally and are still the most reliable pumps out there. There are cheaper pumps, but you get what you pay for. Megadan
^That (Bosh) or the Carter P74155, which is what myself and many others are also running. Carter is a great brand. They both cost about the same, The carter is only about 6 bucks cheaper.
big66440
I've been running an airtex for about 3 years now with good results, I'll admit I am still a bit skeptical about it but I keep my tank at least half full ALL the time which really helps in keeping your fuel pump alive. I ran the Bosch 69302 on it for about a year till it gave out, but I will admit it was probably my fault that killed it so quickly since back then I hardly ever ran more than a 1/4 tank of gas.
