HOrnbrod Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 You must live right to have luck like that Pete.................. Oh, wait! I know you don't live right.
CJ's MJ Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 One thing I love about doing a job yourself is getting to know your vehicle inside and out. You get the satisfaction of knowing that the task is done right no matter what hiccups you encounter along the way.
Strokermjcomanche Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 Would anyone know how much it would cost to have the transmission pulled out and put back in? I'm trying to explain to the wife how much money I'm saving by doing the work myself. Just think how many $$ you would have saved if you didn't lose the bolt. I did the same thing with an AW4. Fished for the bolt for half a day with magnets until I got tired of it, pulled the distributor rotor, touched the START key, then PLINK. It dropped out through the inspection plate gap. No worries. Do you have the plastic piece that surrounds the CPS?
CJ's MJ Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 My next task is trying to fix some wiring issues. Will post some pictures of what it looks like later.

CJ's MJ Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 No I don't it's just the CPS. I didn't know there was a plastic piece to cover it. Lol.
cruiser54 Posted March 31, 2015 Posted March 31, 2015 No I don't it's just the CPS. I didn't know there was a plastic piece to cover it. Lol. They're old and brittle by now anyway. Just like Hornbrod.
CJ's MJ Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Should I try to locate one? The truck was running just fine without out it until the wire melted lol

Do you have the plastic piece that surrounds the CPS? I did, for awhile, thanks to you mate. Unfortunately it kind of crumbled up and fell in the hole and disappeared. 20+ year old plastic that thin just doesn't last.

Just like Hornbrod. Agreed , about the plastic especially in the warmer climates like AZ lol. It would make it harder to drop a bolt or socket in the bell housing though .

CJ's MJ Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Okay that's good to know. I will look for one but not going to worry if I don't find one.
CJ's MJ Posted March 31, 2015 Author Posted March 31, 2015 Got the truck up and running. I just found out I have a faulty fuel gauge. I ran out of gas on my test drive. Made me worry that I did something wrong. Lol. It was doing almost the exact same thing to me as before. Loss of power and started sputtering with a little backfiring. Luckily it only cost $7 (cost of fuel) figure out what went wrong. Lol. So knowing I have a unreliable fuel gauge will just fill it up and keep it full instead of letting it run down to 1/4. Wanted to thank everyone for being so helpful couldn't have done it myself without you guys. ☺
