revmaynard
Hey guys, I have had some problems with my trans seeming to get stuck in or out of gear after dropping it for a leaking slave. The new slave is working great when it shifts, but sometimes the trans gets completely stuck in or out of gear. (any gear) I didn't experience this until I got everything back in. The clutch isn't backwards or anything like that and the clutch and cover plate were in good shape. I had someone mention the shift rails could be out of alignment as they had a similar issue with their ax15. Does anyone here know what I need to be looking for when I pull the shifter back out to inspect this? The trans doesn't grind or anything like that when it does shift and feels fine. I'd really hate to have to drop this dang thing again! haha I did search the forum for a few common terms regarding this and couldn't find anything on the topic, thanks for any tips or help! Strokermjcomanche
I've never heard of anyone adjusting the Peugeot trans shifter like the old Muncie trans . I believe you might have a worn out clutch master cylinder or a bent shift fork .
revmaynard
I actually replaced that on Friday after doing the slave the Saturday before.
revmaynard
I actually just came across this when Google searching, not sure why the forum search didn't work. http://comancheclub.com/topic/34066-ba10-help-with-aligning-shift-arms/ So there is slot I need to make sure is aligned with the nub at the end of the shifter is what I gather? Would neutral have the slot in the center when properly aligned?
Strokermjcomanche
I stand corrected . Someone with more knowledge of the ba10 should be able to help . I'm also interested in this being I just picked one up with a ba10 .
revmaynard
Hopefully! There seems to be a lot of knowledgeable folks on this site. My trans only has 99k on it and the ax15 I have needs a complete rebuild so I'd like to get this thing driving again with the Peugeot if at all possible. Strokermjcomanche
It's seems as the link you posted the guy had a problem with wrong gears, not engaging them .
revmaynard
Yea I noticed that, but that was one of the few things I found about aligning the rails. I'd like to try something like this before I possibly drop the trans again.
metrictonner
I can't imagine what needs to be aligned on a top loader like the BA. You might try pulling the shifter and reinserting it. Did you check the lube level? Actually it sounds like you dropped something down the shifter hole when you dropped the tranny. Get a magnetic probe and fish around for boot screws and such where the shifter goes.
revmaynard
Thanks for the reply, metrictonner. I ended up removing the shifter and reseating it. It appears the rails are properly aligned for neutral when I was in neutral and removed it. I did not drop anything that should have been there inside of the case as I still had every factory piece and bolt I personally removed when I dropped the trans. I'm going to look into the clutch/slave since the truck will shift fine when it is not running. I only have the issue when the engine is running.
