Rich69 Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 I have an 89, My headlights won't shut off - Ever!! Thought it was the headlight delay relay, replaced it, worked once and now have the same problem. I was thinking I I should try replacing the head light switch next? Any suggestions on trouble shooting or what might be causing it?
gogmorgo Posted February 25, 2015 Posted February 25, 2015 ^This. The switch is a common weak point in the headlight wiring. The connector tends to get hot, melt, and sometimes catches fire. If the switch is your problem, or even if it isn't, look into doing the headlight relay harness upgrade as well.
Rich69 Posted February 28, 2015 Author Posted February 28, 2015 Is there a newer type of headlight which would fit the truck and draw less amps say Halogen or LED?
Jeep Driver Posted February 28, 2015 Posted February 28, 2015 Run the headlights on it's own harness, the headlight switch now only triggers the relays and the current does not run through the switch. Several threads on the harness.......search.
