tugalo
does anyone know if a 98 4.0 POWER STEERING PUMP and brake booster/master cylinder will fit on an 88 4.0?
Rockfrog
The water pumps are the same. I have a spare pump off my 2000 XJ currently cooling my 88 MJ. Not sure on the brake booster though.

Rockfrog
Power steering pump/bracket would either need to be modified slightly or the manifold and brackets swapped. The 96 up used a different mounting arrangement. But yes it will still work. Using the later pump would require a different belt if using the later brackets. The later pump has pass through bolt mounts, the earlier 88 pump is threaded. Easy enough to convert, although the later adjuster is far less problematic. Jeep Driver
All you have to do is tap the holes on the PS pump to 3/8 and bolt it to the existing 88 brackets. Swap and retain your 88 pulley. The WPs are all the same, 4.0 or 2.5, you just have to have the correct rotation, V belt or serpentine.
