Jeepjeff859
A while back i replaced the clutch disc, pressure plate, release bearing. clutch slave, and clutch master after i replaced the clutch master i noticed the clutch pedal now sits about 1 in. past the brake pedal like it as a shorter push rod. i have been having a problem getting a good clutch pedal. Could the shorter push rod not be giving me enough travel? could someone give me length of theirs so i can measure mine or maybe a part number ? Eagle
Did you replace your push rod?
dasbulliwagen
There is supposed to be a plastic cone pushed onto the end of the push rod that rides in the throw out arm. This increases the length of the rod by almost an inch. I ran into the same issue when I did mine. It just wasn't getting enough throw to fully disengage. Then I looked at the pushrods and transfered the plastic cone and all was good. You would think it would come with a new one on the slave cylinder but it doesn't. Hope this helps. Eagle
Okay, now I have another question: Which push rod? I was thinking the push rod from the peddle to the master -- I'm accustomed to the BA10/5 with the internal slave, so I forgot that a clutch with an external slave also has a push rod on the lower end. Jeepjeff859
I'm talking about the push rod on the master cylinder that connects to the pedal
yxmj
Do you still have the old master ? Pull the rod out max and measure the rod from the lip of the cylinder to the center of the hole....do the same on your new one. I have changed and rebuilt masters but newer come across a rod that was a noticeable 1" different.
Jeepjeff859
I don't have the old one it was bent, but the pedal sits about a in past the brake pedal and with the old one it didn't
Jeepjeff859
The clutch isn't disengaging fully so maybe the slave push rod is a bit shorter
yxmj
What is the measurement from the lip of the master to the center of the hole were the pin for the pedal goes?
yxmj
???? Now you are talking about a different Rod????? :hmm:
Jeepjeff859
The push rod on the master is about 4 in, I don't have a ruler around at the moment, and I'm starting to think that since I don't have that plastic cone on the slave that I'm losing the little bit of length needed to release the clutch
Jeepjeff859
And the bolt holes on your master are vertical Mine are horizontal
