offroader461
hey all...i have a dilema that I'm trying to figure out...i have stock 3.07's right now and have a matchin 4.10's for the front and rear...Now the problem is that these gears are for the d30/35 combo but i found a D44 out of an XJ with 4.56's...i can trade the guy i bought the 4.10 for 4.56 for the d30 then just pitch the d35 of course....Now comes my dilema....i live in Arizona and was wondering which gear set would be better...4.10 or 4.56???? i am running a 4.0L, 5spd with 32's right now but plan to step up to 33's thx for the help

feerocknok
If stock gearing with stock size tires can make you reach the governed speed of 116 or 117 mph, then dropping to 4.56s should be alright on the highway with meats. I'd go 4.56, especially if you can get them in a 44!
Pete M
No doubt, go with the 4.56s :D
offroader461
hopefully he still has it otherwise I'm on the hunt for a upgrade for my d35 that already has 4.
Eagle
3.73 is good for 30" tires 4.10 is good for 31" tires 4.56 is good for 32" and 33" tires You might be surprised to know that 31" tires with 3.73 gears is actually the exact same overall ratio as stock tires with 3.54 gears.
