Rockfrog
So ... my 92 parts XJ (Laredo pkg) has two damn near immaculate front seats with the larger side bolsters. Foam feels like brand new, i mean these seats are mint. Pproblem is, the XJ has a burgundy colored interior, my MJ is grey ... I'm not against a hodge podged interior, and maybe finding some form of seat cover to fit these style seats ... but, if there is a way to convert to a them dark charcoal or even black i figured it wouldn't hurt to try. Only other option I see is to try and fins someone wanting to swap grey stock covers for these burgundy one if that would work. They look like these only in a burgundy/wine (with plaid cloth centers) color.
johnj92131
Seat covers can be removed and "new" covers installed. When I converted from a bench to buckets, I mixed and matched parts from 4 or 5 pairs of buckets to make one set of buckets just the way I wanted. My base seat covers came from a 4 door Laredo that were near perfect. 1 of the seat may also have come from the same Laredo. The 2 door seat frames came from a couple of other XJ/MJs. Foam was also a mix and match problem. Same story with the headrests. So, keep an eye on what you can find in the junk yards, take the covers off, wash the seat covers at home. Put them on your existing seats and watch for a better pair of seat covers, then do it again till you get a great set. A wanted ad my also help you find some really good covers. Gray is very common and the red/burgandy is not common. Someone has to want those red/burgandy covers.
