Fernando87mj
If your like me and you still have your original domelights in place and there not working and your to cheap to buy those fancy euromatics then here's a write up on how to clean the contacts on the dome light Before you start make sure you have current at the connector and the fuse and light switch is good before determining its the dome light itself that's not working . Step 1 Gently with much caution (this is really old plastic ) pry up the lens with a flat head screw driver or similar tool If you can use a thinner tool , mines was kinda big and if not careful it can break the plastic Clean the little wheel with a flathead or sand paper untill shiny for good contact Dirty Clean While I was at it , I also cleaned the surface the metal wheel touches and where the light bulb ends touch Dirty Clean Put bulb back in Put cover back on And now back in its place working All it took me was a flathead screwdriver and some patience , Hopefully this helped you guys :)
Comanche County
Nice! Every MJ owner should do it. There's some LED bulbs that would fit in there too.

Fernando87mj
Hey man try bending the little metal piece upwards so that it can touch the little wheel that's on the lens , sometimes it might touch and it'll work and other times it Won't so try bending it upwards so It can be together firmly and make good contact . It's the little wheel that's touching the metal piece in the pic above .

Brickmiata
I tried to take mine apart to diagnose the problem and clean them and they crumbled into little bits . I was expecting this and just ordered the new ones.

Rockfrog
Probably the euramtic ones. All over eBay and here in the classifieds. Mine were hacked to death by the PO. I put LEDs into mine, only issue I have now is the slight voltage bleed makes the LEDs light when the door switches get wet. Regular incandescents wouldn't have enough voltage to light. I'm going to look at modding mine so the up position is off to solve it.
Steve Gregory
Are there supposed to be lights in both of the footwells?
Rockfrog
Not unless you optioned them, or added them. They were standard in a Cherokee but not on a Comanche.
Fernando87mj
When I had cleaned the dome lights I had replaced with the bulbs with new ones and now a month and 2weeks later it one of them burned out so I decided to go with LED's since I read there more resistant to vibration and moisture , hopefully it was true but I went ahead and went with it and bought 2 new bulbs
Steve Gregory
I've learned that footwell lights are on Comanches. I replaced my lower IP and the one that went in had the light on it, I also found out, no matter the option that was chosen, the harness will still be there. They don't make them specific. Unless you have a column shift, they don't have the harness for the lights to the floor shift.
