Info: 92 yj 2.5....

What's up fellas

So I put the xj up on Craigslist to see if someone makes an offer I couldn't resist....

Someone offered to trade a 92 yj. 2.5 ax5....

4" lift and 33s...basically stock besides the lift and tires...

What can you guys tell me about yjs that I should look out for???

 

Any advice and Input is appreciated...

rust around the rear shackels and around the roll bar mounting points behind the front seats. rust around the dash and windshield this is just on the florida jeeps i have bought or owned. look at the drive shaft for dents because there small they get hit alot. check track bar mounts front and rear. the 2.5 in the yj is ok but i was never happy with it.

To that list add Floor pans( not only the front but the rear hatch).....one thing about wranglers.....the top comes off....sometimes mother nature washes your upholstery for you....... and rust behind the fender flares. Rear Shock mounts on the frame

 

I would emphasize again what Mudfoot says about the rear of the frame were the shackles bolt up (it is such a problem they actually make replacement kits for them).

 

I have a YJ with a HO 4L as well as a TJ with the 2.5.......with the ( I am Assuming 4:10'S) and 33's.... it might be a bit of a dog ( I only run 31's on both the TJ and the MJ with 2.5's....but the mileage comparison over the yj (3.55's and 33's) is sometimes worth it)

Well I went to go look at it and no rust in the specific areas you guys mentioned above but mainly on the tub itself.....

2 huge rust holes that he is currently repairing...
