mnkyboy
At what RPM are these figures? From the charts ive seen the 318 is going to peak its torque curve before the 4.0l is really doing anything.
Incommando
That is a good point. I just checked a couple of sources and found that the numbers matched from source to source and went with them. Neither was in graph form. Looks like 190@4500/225@2500 for the 4.0 and 140@3600/240@1600 giving the 318 the advantage in TQ lb-ft ( :Canadaflag: ) at low RPM but the HP edge to the 4.0 once moving....if you could get it moving.... :crossfingers:
FrankTheDog
Find yourself a 360 and axles with 3.73-4.10 gears and you'll have yourself a whole different truck.
cbreiter
That may be true, but the whole point was to gain some power and a bit of gas mileage. I'm thinking either a new carb, or a rebuild kit for this one will definitely help out. The idea has been floating around in my head for some time of putting a 360 in it though. Maybe after I get my comanche all fixed up and going so I don't have to drive longer distances with this one.
