Anyone know if the 2.5 in my 86 is the same as the 2.5 iron duke in the s10s?

Very similar but the bellhousing bolt pattern is differnt so unless you had a trans with a SBC or V6 bolt pattern no.

 

But The iron duke was used in CJ's....so if you tracked down an old one with a tranny?

So I can't take the engine from my 86 that I'm parting out and put it in my buddy's s10?

I do not beilieve so.......Maybe with a 2.8 out of an 86 you could but the 2.5 will have a differnt bolt pattern for the trans.....unless of course you change that as well. :dunno:

The AMC 2.5 uses the GM 60 degree v6 bell housing like the Gm 2.8 3.1 3.4 3.8 and maybe a few others. The iron duke had its own pattern.
