Compression

Recommended Posts

So when i swapped my spark plugs last night, I decided i'd throw a compression tester on it while i was there.

Got

108

112

122

125

120

127

psi

What is the compression psi for a 95 4.0l?

Mine seem low :/

Did you pull ALL the plugs and then do the test with the throttle wide open?

Was the engine up to operating temp or cold?

Plugs were still in it, It was WOT though.

Wasnt op temp, But wasnt cold.

I wouldn't worry about it because you only pulled one plug at a time.

If it bugs you, do it again with all plugs removed at once. How does it run?

Seems like there's always a slight missfire at idle & always seems a bit rich.

How's the fittings/hose/tube from the throttle body to MAP sensor?

Which of my Tips have you completed so far?

The vacuum lines have pretty much all been replaced with new lines & The map was replaced not long ago. I'm pretty sure there isnt a vacuum leak.

Not sure which of those tips apply to me since they're for renix & my entire wiring/engine/Computer/etc is from a 95 cherokee

Dear God!

What a mess. Whoever did that should never be allowed to pick up a wrench ...

If at all possible, I think you should try to get someone with a '95 XJ to park next to you so you can see how/where all those wires and tubes are supposed to run, and start cleaning up that rat's nest.
