Lee21490 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 So when i swapped my spark plugs last night, I decided i'd throw a compression tester on it while i was there. Got 108 112 122 125 120 127 psi What is the compression psi for a 95 4.0l? Mine seem low :/
88ComancheMitch Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Some good info here. http://www.cherokeetalk.com/forum/f9/compression-specs-8612/
cruiser54 Posted July 18, 2014 Posted July 18, 2014 Did you pull ALL the plugs and then do the test with the throttle wide open? Was the engine up to operating temp or cold?
Lee21490 Posted July 18, 2014 Author Posted July 18, 2014 Did you pull ALL the plugs and then do the test with the throttle wide open? Was the engine up to operating temp or cold? Plugs were still in it, It was WOT though. Wasnt op temp, But wasnt cold.

If it bugs you, do it again with all plugs removed at once. How does it run?

How's the fittings/hose/tube from the throttle body to MAP sensor? Which of my Tips have you completed so far?
Lee21490 Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 The vacuum lines have pretty much all been replaced with new lines & The map was replaced not long ago. I'm pretty sure there isnt a vacuum leak. Not sure which of those tips apply to me since they're for renix & my entire wiring/engine/Computer/etc is from a 95 cherokee
Lee21490 Posted July 19, 2014 Author Posted July 19, 2014 So you have the 95 Cherokee vacuum system also? I assume so. I wasn't the one that did the swap, PO said he swapped everything involved with the engine.
Eagle Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Dear God! What a mess. Whoever did that should never be allowed to pick up a wrench ... If at all possible, I think you should try to get someone with a '95 XJ to park next to you so you can see how/where all those wires and tubes are supposed to run, and start cleaning up that rat's nest.

Haha, Yea, I've been fixing weird $#!& the PO did for ages. A little of the mess is me though.
cruiser54 Posted July 20, 2014 Posted July 20, 2014 Butt connectors on the wiring? That don't make me feel all warm and fuzzy..............
