TheDude Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I was swapping my cluster to one that has an accurate tach and in the process, I snapped my speedo cable.. Now I've been trying to find exactly which length cable I need to see if advance has one that fits but, I have had no luck. every part that says it fits is a different length. I'm trying to get the truck inspected on Wednesday so a parts store would be ideal, but any part numbers or at least the length would be very helpful to me.The truck is an 89 4WD without cruise by the way.
Strokermjcomanche Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 If it's the original cable the part number will be stamped on the cable before it goes in the firewall
TheDude Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 I just managed to find the advance part # and they can no longer get it..
TheDude Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 The only cable I can find anywhere is this PIONEER Part # CA3068 and I can't find any info on it regarding length or ends.
Blue XJ Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 I just bought a replacement online. I'm pretty sure I got it from Amazon. You either need the cruise or non cruise control version. They only sell the t case side of the cable if you have the cruise version, nobody makes the short piece. I think I paid less than $20 for it.
Blue XJ Posted June 30, 2014 Posted June 30, 2014 You should be able to do a Google search for Comanche speedometer cable and find one. I think the one I bought was for a 90 Cherokee and it fit fine
TheDude Posted June 30, 2014 Author Posted June 30, 2014 Could you look in your Amazon history and post the link? I searched everywhere and they all said they weren't carried anymore. Also, is yours 4wd?
TheDude Posted July 1, 2014 Author Posted July 1, 2014 Thanks, I managed to find it on there. It was only listed under Cherokee of course..
Blue XJ Posted July 1, 2014 Posted July 1, 2014 This is the one I bought http://www.amazon.com/ATP-Y-924-Speedometer-Cable/dp/B005UKZCZI/ref=pd_sim_sbs_auto_1?ie=UTF8&refRID=1MHHH3PW8FJGMMH5RF34 The speedometer end on it doens't match the picture, but the end that is actually on it appears to be a much more robust design. Mine is a 4x4. I had cruise control, but it didn't work, I ended up having to get the non cruise cable, since I needed the part going to the speedometer. This one works great. Edit: I see you ordered one. Sorry I was late with the link.
Blue XJ Posted July 2, 2014 Posted July 2, 2014 Mines an 88 but my tcase and instrument panel are from a 90.
