Cd Deck Behind The Seat???

Hey I'm new to this site and currently fixing up my first comanche. She's a 1986 2.5L.....anyways, I was thinking of mounting a Deck behind the seat, so I didn't have to hack away at the dash as the interior is still in great condition! has anyone done this?? I was thinking it would have to be bluetooth and automatically connect to my phone when I start up my car. I'd like an opinion if anyones got one.

I suppose you could do that, provided you run 12v power back there.

Just curious - what kind of deck are you wanting to put in there? A standard single DIN radio fits in the stock location with minor mods to the plastic dash bezel. The dash itself is untouched. Unless you don't want to touch ANYTHING in the interior (which I fully understand your reasoning for) that would be the simplest option. You can get a new dash bezel fairly cheaply at any junkyard if you want to keep your original one intact.

if you are doing a cd deck make sure its one that will work in the position you want to mount it in. some cd players don't like being sideways.

 

how are you planning on wiring this thing?

do you want the original deck to still work too? <- sort of like where you could throw a switch and one or the other would work?

 

if you have a center console you may be able to mount it in there for easier access.

I'll upload pics asap! but no the orignial AM radio dozen't need to work. The whole thought of this idea is to keep the stock look, as it's all in great shape. Maybe in the glove box? fairly small though.
