I have a clutch kit for a 1986 S10, 2.8 that I did not use. Sold the S10 B4 I got it installed. I have a 1987 MJ, 2.5  that needs a new clutch disc and pressure plate. Placing them side by side the disks are identical, almost. The 2.5 has 4 springs and the S 10 has 6. The pressure plates are almost identical. The fingers the throw out bearing rides on stick up a 1/4 inch higher than the fingers on the MJ. Can I use the S10 stuff in the MJ? I would just go into town and get the correct kit except it's a 20 mile trip. Any body know? :dunno:

I don't know if it will work or not but I would be concerned about the height of the release fingers that touch the release bearing. On old JD equipment the fingers were adustable so the same pressure plate could be used in multiple application. Each application gave a part number for the correct tool to measure the fingers with. Are you measuring the fingers on both with no load (UNBOLTED)?

My external kit from NAPA was $96, LUK.

Was that getting the flywheel turned, new pressure plate, new clutch disc and pilot bearing?
