Plugs, wires and cap... crap!?!

i don't know what kind are the best for these lil beasts so i was wanting to know

 

Plugs:

boush platinum2 ?- will they work ?

boush platinum4?- are these better?

champion "whatever's"?- how will they do?

AC delco?

 

wires:

boush or value craft or duralast

Champion truck plugs. The cheap ones. Everything else is a waste of money.

I'm running an Accel tune up kit I got from 4wd.com. No complaints here. It came with new dist. cap, rotor, 8mm wires and plugs for around $50.

The 4.0 is rather old technology when it comes to cylinder head design (60s), and is also rather low compression, and doesn't rev very high. Sure, you can use an expensive plug, but you won't see a difference.

I agree with Dirty,

Save your money on them platnum plugs!!! YOU don't WANT/NEED THEM!!! Champions are the way to go for these older engines!!!

 

As for the cap aabout any better brand will do you fine. Personally, I prefer the NAPA line. Its got brass contacts and has worked well for me for many many years.

 

Wires, again any name brand will suffice.

make sure the plugs are long enough thread for the 4.0...SPECIFY what vehicle they are for when you buy them...one of my trucks ran like crap when i got it with them 4 prong plugs...they weren't long enough, and weren't even tightend down (3 were not even in threaded in

the 4.0 actually LOVES the cheapie champions. better than the platinum ones. just make sure to gap them
