NathanC54 Posted April 2, 2014 Share Posted April 2, 2014 Hello Everyone If Have a 1990 jeep comanche 4.0 4x4 with an 88 motor and trans,Well My Gas Gauge Doesn't Work And if Just Recently Bought The Jeep Never Put More Than 20 Bucks In the gas tank at a time, Anyways in ran out of gas today as soo it seemed interested put 2 gallons out of my Jerry can and put it in drove to the gas station to fill up and my jeep Would only accept 6 Gallons of gas idk if my fuel pump doesn't work or what? Blue88Comanche Posted April 2, 2014 Share Posted April 2, 2014 You are experiencing the day of pranks, tomorrow you should be able to spell your favorite Jeep model again.  Check the resistor on the drivers side of the engine compartment, forward of the windshield washer tank on the fender. there should be two wires. if that went bad you will experience pump issues Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

88whitemanche Posted April 2, 2014 Share Posted April 2, 2014 The way that your describing seems as if that rubber hose that's connected from the fuel pump to the feeding line either broke or slipped off... If your only getting 8 gallons at fill up means that you may already have about a half a tank full and the fuel doesn't consume under that.... Dillithium Posted April 3, 2014 Share Posted April 3, 2014 I have the exact same problem, fuel gauge no worky and can't put more than 10 gallons in. My working theory so far, is that the PO put in a cherokee sending assembly, because my tank is new too. Might be something worth looking into.
