ckjeep
help!! my 88 4.0 comanche was clogging fuel filters in about 10 miles. i bought a new gas tank. when changing the tank i replaced the fuel pump but the sending unit was in really bad shape. does anyone know where a mj sending unit can be purchased? i know the xj is different but can it be made to work? what have yall done in this situation as i really want my gas gauge to work
88whitemanche
They don't make the sending units for the Comanches anymore...you would have to either buy one from a member on here or find one at the junkyard... Or there's a website that they rebuild these units but the wait time is long....

88whitemanche
The height difference... If you install an xj one iirc it will not go to the bottom of the tank and it'll be short 2-3"...
HOrnbrod
Actually the XJ and MJ senders are mirror images of each other and the baffles in the MJ fuel tanks contact the XJ senders. OP, contact Akula69 (Jake), a forum member. He should have some rebuilt fuel senders.

Test Guy
Did you locate a good sending unit? I am doing he same search. Wanted to see what was out there before I bought a new stock tank. I may jus try repairing mine. What pump did you buy or are you using?
64 Cheyenne
As time goes by and these things are becoming increasingly hard to find (especially HO ones) be aware that there is always the option of converting to a Dakota tank and sender. Search is your friend, pretty sure there is a write up here somewhere.
