Need Some Help With A Few Things

Recommended Posts

This is posted under project vasi, but I was hoping to get as much input as possible so here goes.

1.Where can I find the CHIEF lettering and Vinyl Stripes for my truck? The vinyl can be done by my paint guy, but the "CHIEF" letters for both doors.......

2. Where can I find a bumper / tire carrier? I don't want it in the back of the bed, and it won't fit underneath, I got to have a good tire Carrier. I like Hanson type bumper / carriers

3. Where I find a two slide, rear sliding glass window be found? I have a single piece sliding window, but I'd like to get one with two as it will match the wildernest

4. I have a noise/clank/rattle whatever when cranking the steering from left to right or when steering while driving, and I cannot figure out what it is. I have new steering, new control arms, new track bar. It was there when I got the truck and is still there.....................

5. Would you have the wilderness painted to match your truck? I am leaning toward yes, and toward 2014 toxic orange / ppg 921365

6. Any alternative or aftermarket grills out there?

6. Lastly, thinking of going crazy and painting a lot parts underneath. Whats the best way to paint bolt heads without getting too much paint on them?

2. There arent many premanufactured bumpers specific to MJs and even fewer tire carriers. As a matter of fact i think there aren't any (tire carriers), I have one as do a few others here on CC, but thats only because we built our own.

JCR has some VERY nice DIY bumpers http://www.jcroffroad.com/category/MJB.html

3.  Rear windows of any kind can be difficult to get a hold of.  Here is just one that is available http://www.glasswarepro.com/2221482-item-EDV700BT-CRL-Duo-Vent-Four-Panel-Slider-with-Dark-Gray-Glass-for-1986-1992-Jeep-Comanche.aspx?o=special#-2221482

4. "new steering" is a pretty broad phrase, just what do you mean by that?  IF you MJ is a 4x4, there is a good chance the noise is from worn out universal joints.

5. WTF is the "wilderness"?

6. Yes, but they are all very similar, as in they are all different slotted variations. To use the newer style XJ grill you have to swap the nose/front clip

There is one other front clip you can swap on and that is the XJ Wagoneer front clip swap. They are exceptionally hard to find, but also exceptionally cool. (That being said i have one on mine, :D )

(The other) 6.  Remove them, wrap with masking/painters tape, paint. OR just don't, because you will just rub the paint off putting them back on, ORR buy every nut and bolt in black oxide.

Hope at least some of this was helpful.

I'm leaning toward hanson front and rear, then customize the hanson rear with a tire carrier

New steering meant removal of my complete 2006 LJ steering with 60k on it and put it on the manche.

Wildernest is a camper shell like an at flipac but much older

I was thinking that I remembered companies building aftermarket grill like 12-16 horizontal square tubes, like they still make for Chevys

For a tire carrier, I've been eyeballing the Tiregate systems on sale. Maybe I can mod one to fit, or weld up my own.

As far as the topper, I like em matched to the body. To each his own.

Maybe someone local can powder coat your bolts?
