Randy in Maine
I thought they looked a little dim and the reason was that they are not on. High beams work if I hold the turnsignal lever "up". I figure it is likely the switch. Before I complain too loudly let me me point out that the real problem is me. I have owned theis thing since 2001 and have put over 120 K on it and have done mostly nothing to improve the set up. I have printed out this little godsend from here... http://comancheclub.com/topic/36382-cruisers-renix-tips/ and I am ordering up all of the stuff from NAPA tomorrow to improve the grounds and wiring harness to hopefully fix the problem. I think it is really the switch.
87Chief
I had a problem awhile back when the headlights just shut off on me. It also, was the switch.
gogmorgo
When my headlight switch went a couple months ago, it still retained complete functionality. It just started tickling the underside of the dash with incandescent gasses. Upgrading the headlight harness is more than just a good idea. I personally don't think the headlight switch is your issue. There's only one wire leaving it that carries power to the headlights, so in theory if they come on at all then there's nothing wrong with it. I'd expect your issue to more likely be the dimmer switch, where the power is split between the low/high beams, or possibly with the indicator stalk or its linkages in the steering column. That said, another member not too long ago somehow managed to correct a similar issue (he had no low-beams, but iirc his high beams still worked normally) by replacing the headlight switch. Randy in Maine
Fixed. I improved the grounds and replaced the headlight wiring harness. It was the harness. Took a couple of hours and it was a done deal.
