gogmorgo
I used to work at a gas station that sold a door lock deicer, basically a little bottle with a nozzle shaped like a key and it squirted a high-alcohol fluid into the lock cylinder. Never used it though. I've also seen key fobs with little battery-operated heated blades for the same purpose. However, you shouldn't be completely unable to unlock the door unless the lock itself is jammed... the button inside doesn't turn the key cylinder. I once had to open that gas station after freezing rain, but the door was covered in solid ice and the deadbolt cylinder was frozen shut as well. I could get into a storage shed (we were also a hardware store) and I grabbed a blowtorch and hammer. Used the hammer to break some of the 3/4" layer of ice away, then used the blow torch on the lock cylinder. Took me ten minutes to get in.
danbyrambler
Ought to be able to open from inside just as GOGMORGO said - - - 2 old school ways to thaw a frozen lock cylinder - - 1: Insert a key & hold a lighter/match under the key - - 2: Pi$$ upon it - - I have done number one many times - - - The usual common sense things apply to both, like keys without vinyl coverings for #1 & local laws forbidding public urination, indecency n such for #2 - - - U Don't want to end up on a sex offender list.

airspeed
Yes, I had the same problem over and over. I got tired of climbing in through the passenger door, I could not open the door from the inside until it thawed out. I finally ordered a new OEM latch assembly from RockAuto, ~$102. Wow what a difference that made, works great. Next to the dual diaphragm booster upgrade this is the second best thing I have done to the old Comanche. The door closes with a very solid WHUMP, it reminds me of my wife's Lexus. It is not that clackity rattle sound that it had before. I looked close and saw that the part of the latch mechanism that catches the striker pin is covered with nylon.
