Signs Of Power Steering Going Out?

What are some signs that the power steering pump or steering box are going bad?

Steering Pump - Usually hard to steer or notchy. Mine was that the front bearing blew up and took a bunch of stuff with it.

 

Steering Box - The gears wear out and there is a noticeable dead spot switching from left to right.

My old power steering pump was squeaking really bad, and at times it would be hard to turn the wheel.

So I think the power steering pump may be on its way out.  it has been getting slightly harder to steer, and I think it started making a new noise.  when I replace it should  I get a new one or a JY pump.  any potential upgrades?

I haven't seen many people modify pumps to fit.

 

I would go with a new one, that has a warranty. The reason being, I bought a new pump, then about 3 months later it went out. And it had a 1 year warranty. There might be some with a lifetime warranty.

 

Unless you had to, I would not go with one from a JY
